Your warband in Bloodgrave are the group of adventurers who are exploring Capitas and seeking its treasures. Warbands can come from any of the existing factions in the Conquest universe- the Dominion once spanned a sizable portion of the continent Alektria, and every culture, human or otherwise, had some sort of contact with Hazlia and his Empire.
Here’s a few ideas for some warbands to help inspire you!
Anogodosh of Aul’Domn
Anagodosh leads his honor guard of hold thanes from the snow-capped mountain hold Aul’Domn. He seeks the Hammerhand Banner, a relic lost during an embarrassing defeat to a Dominion Legion and brought back to Capitas in glory. Rumors persist it survived the destruction of the city and moulders in one of the many ceremonial armories that dot the ruined lanscape.
Minesthes and the Shadow of Acheron
Minesthes, Dorilates of Acheron, and a small squad his best soldiers are on a covert mission into the heart of the great enemy. The catch- they have no idea what they are looking for. Their contact is a hulking monstrosity of philogiston and machine, flanked by clockwork horrors in billowing cloaks. These creatures appear periodically, late at night, and provide further instructions. The monsters seem to remain near Minesthes and his crew during the day, for they have executed lethal ambushes whenever the soldiers encounter trouble.
The Cadaver Synod
Originally a small cult devoted to Nabu-Astertis that emerged from the depths of the Still Lake, the mysterious Cadaver Synod has carved itself a niche in the Necropolis with a mixture of ruthlessness and guile . Led by the Prophet Formosus, an archimandrite of ancient provenance, the cult has even welcomed it’s newest member, the sentient reliquary of Saint Ignacious, a boistrous bone golem who chants Hymns to Hazlia while doing battle.
Make a Bloodgrave Warband
Forming your Bloodgrave warband follows all of the rules laid out in the ‘Building an Army’ section of the, and also follows a few additional guidelines listed below:
- Limit of 650 points
- Choose a character- but don’t pick a retinue
- Choose your regiments
- Choose your character retinue regiment: pick at least 1 minimum size regiment whose type matches the type of your character. This regiment will act as your character’s retinue. If your character doesn’t normally choose a retinue, this step is optional.
- Choose a second-in-command regiment: pick a regiment that can legally take an officer, and select that officer. This officer is your second in command
- Pick the rest of your warband: use the remaining points to pick whatever other units you’d like of any type (infantry, brute, or otherwise)
- Choose a perk:
- Ed note: coming soon!
Example Warbands
To help get a sense of what kinds of warbands are available, here are a few examples
Aesop’s Enforcers [645/650]
Iadmon sighed. Second in his class at the Ekklisia, and here he was, leading a bunch of hillbillies, a crew of delinquents, and one idiot into the most perilous city in Ea. All because he was Bred. “What’s the word, bossman” called Marsyas, his second-in-command, the sneer evident in his voice, “You pondering your navel up on that rock?” Marsyas’ jives were accompanied by a few snickers from the other Bull Hollow satyrs. Iadmon sighed again. Do this mission, bring home the lost knowledge of Capitas, and if he was lucky he’d never see these losers again.
